Czech blind mountaineer climbed Kilimanjaro

Czech blind mountaineer Jan Riha climbed Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa on February 15, 2009.

He reached the summit at 5 895 m after demanding 5 days ascent on 15.2.2009 at 6:40. Jan Riha fulfilled the other goal of his long time project "Stairs to Heaven" to climb the highest mountains of all continents "Seven summits".

Acording to the locals Jan Riha is said the first blind who summited Kilimanjaro. The locals remembered there another one, but he gave up the climb under the summit.

After the last year climb to Elbrus, Caucasus, and now the ascent to Kilimanjaro he plans in next years to climb: Aconcagua (South America), Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania), Mt.Denali (North America), Mt.Vinson (Antarctida) and Mt.Everest (Asia).
Jan Riha would like to prove that even handicapped people could do this demanding sport.
