NANGA PARBAT 2005 LIGHT EXPEDITION CZ, supported by the Czech Mountaineering Union has returned recently after 7 weeks in Pakistan. Because of bad weather the members did not reach the main summit of Nanga Parbat  (8125 m), but the expedition was in many ways exceptional.

It was after a long pause of 34 years, that mountaineers tried to climb Nanga Parbat via the North route, and now the first time women have tried it. During the expedition all members climbed the summit of South Chongra (6448 m) and were the first Czechs and the first women on the top (summited only in 1934 and 1971 by a few memebres of Nanga Parbat expeditions).

The aim of the expedition:
Nanga Parbat (8125 m). The peak is in Kashmir, Pakistan.
The ascent line: via the North route, by route of Herman Buhl via Rakiot Glacier. The route was identical with the route of German expeditions from 1932, 1934, 1936, 1938, first ascent of Herman Buhl from 1953 and the Tatra´s (Slovakian) expedition in 1971. Since then nobody has probably climbed via this route.
