Banff mountain film festival is coming to the Czech Republic for the third time. It will take place again at Jicin, the gateway to the famous sandstone area Cesky Raj.
Tomáš Mrázek finished 8th last Saturday at the World Cup in lead (difficulty) climbing in Imst. The other Czech competitor, Vaclav Malina, was 40th, and the Czech woman Kateřina Chudobová 39th.
Věra Komárková, the first Czech women who climbed 8000 metres high mountain, died yesterday (May 25 2005) at her flat in Leysin, Switzerland, at age of 62.
In the year 1978 she ascented Annapurna within an American woman expedition, in 1984 she ascented Cho Oju together with another Czech women Dina Štěrbová and Sherpa Ang Rita.
Martin Stráník finished 2nd, the best performance of all the Czech climbers at competition of European Youth Cup in lead (difficulty) climbing, that finished today in Imst (AUT).
Tomas Mrazek has just returned from France where he spent two weeks around Nice as preparation before World Championship in Munich, Germany July 1-5 2005.

Two Czech expeditions departed on Sunday (May 22 2005) to K2 ascent.
Czech Championship of kids and youth in difficulty (lead) climbing took place the last weekend (May 14 2005) in town Svitavy.

On April 16 a Czech climber Martin Minarik reached the summit of 8200 m Cho Oju. His expedition contains only him and his Sherpa cook.
