Czech mountaineering union announced today the results of the contest of the best sport performance of the year 2008. The first was Adam Ondra (for climbing of route Open Air (9a+) and the other top world ascents), 2nd Marek Holecek and Jan Doudlebsky (for project of "Triple North Walls" in Asia high mountains), 3rd Tomas Mrazek (for his titel of Vice Champion of Europe in lead climbing and the overall 2nd place in lead climbing World Cup).

This 7th annual of the open air bouldering competition Petrohradske PADani is scheduled on Saturday April 25th 2009 in village Petrohrad (West Bohemia, between Prague and Karlovy Vary - Karslbad, CZ). An avalanche killed a Czech climber (23 years old) on Kampermauer, Austria, on Friday, a report on www.Lezec.cz said.
His climbing partner escaped without injury. Another seriously injured Czech was transported by helicopter to hospital in Linz (the avalanche knocked him down from the wall and caused an injury on his leg, but his climbing partner belayed him well.) Another two Austrian climbers hit the avalanche only slightly. All 4 Czechs climbed the route Hermeline, the Austrian did route Extasia. The Mountian service and Red cross Windischgarsten participated on the rescue.
