The competition take place in Oz en Oisans, in area of Alpe D Huez, France. Czech republic was represented by Karolina Grohova, Radek Groh and Jana Nekvindova in juniors categories and cadete Petra Volfova.
World cup will continue in March by competition in Pierra Menta and by finals in Austrian Dachstein Xtreme. In mid of February Czech representetive team will go to European Championship to Italy.

Czechs girls got medals on Sunday on opening competition of the World Cup 2009 in ski mountaineering. Junior Karolina Grohova got silver medal, cadet Petra Volfova has got bronze.
This year first Czech ranking competition in lead climbing Police nad Metuji called Novorocni Open (New Years Open) took place on Saturday Jan 17, 2009. The winners are Vaclav Malina and Nelly Kudrova.
On 14th December 2008 the list of Polish extreme routes of VI.8 (9a?) grade was extended by another proposal. Sprawa Honoru is currently the hardest proposed grade in Mamutowa Cave (Kluczwoda Valley, near Krakow).

The highest artificial ice fall for ice climbing in Czech Republic has been open in Vir, Ceskomorovska vrchovina (Bohemian-Moravian Heights), about 50 km northern from Brno.
