This article is in no way directed against Zéďa, who is my friend, nor against his activities in the field of route belaying. Every tragedy is a terrible experience for everyone involved, especially when it involves someone close to you. I, too, would likely try to resolve this problem as quickly and easily as possible, and my first step would definitely be to reach out to the climbing community and my friends for help.
At this year's first European Youth Cup in bouldering, held this past weekend in Soure, Portugal, Jan Štípek finished in 5th place, making him the top Czech competitor. The Czech Mountaineering Association posted a brief report on Facebook.
Hello friends, following the tragic accident on Kalymnos on March 27, 2026, when our friend Petr “Brumla” Hruban sadly passed away and went to climbing heaven, things have really started to move forward. The first tangible result is the closure of 10 sectors on the island, which is a bit sad, but absolutely necessary.

New film: Adam Ondra climbs "Idealisten XIIa RP" in Saxony
Adam Ondra climbed the route “Die Vertreibung der letzten Idealisten” (XIIa) in RP style in the Saxon sandstone. The ascent is the central theme of the half-hour film “Heartbeats of the World’s Oldest Crag,” which the Mammut brand released yesterday in collaboration with Adam. The documentary chronicles Adam’s return to the towers of Saxony, where he encounters traditional climbing ethics: long leads, minimal protection, and a ban on chalk.
The film also captures the historical context of Saxony’s more than 150-year-old climbing tradition and showcases the iconic routes of the local sandstone towers. In addition, it hints at future challenges, including the “Circus Maximus” project, considered one of the most difficult unclimbed routes on sandstone.
The film features Robert Leistner, the first ascender of “Die Vertreibung der letzten Idealisten,” alongside other legends of Saxon climbing: Bernd Arnold, Herbert Richter, and Jindřich Hudeček.
Jan Šimánek served as director and cinematographer, and a larger team of Czech filmmakers contributed to the production.
